Clearfield Fall Ball Completes 21st Season

Since 1999 Clearfield Area School District students have had the opportunity to take advantage of a Fall Baseball Instructional Program. This year, beginning on August 20th, 29 players in grades 7-12 participated in practices, scrimmages, and games. The season came to a close on October 14th and 15th with the annual Baseball Olympics. VFW Post 1785 sponsored the program again this year, along with the Clearfield Baseball Association. All activities took place on the James A Anderson Ball Field at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park.

Due to the large number this year we divided the players up into two teams, one of 13 and 14 year olds and the other grades 8-12. Both teams practiced twice a week and played 10 games, mostly on weekends. Also there were two intrasquad games at the end of the season. To wrap up the Fall season each team competed in an evening of “Baseball Olympics”, a series of individual baseball skills contests, with prizes being awarded (candy).
