Black Team Defeats Red Team As Former Players Celebrate 13th Annual Bison Baseball Alumni Game

Adam Jury (‘07) delivered a walk off double in the bottom of the 7th inning as the Black came from behind to defeat the Red 8-7 on Saturday at the Lawrence Township Rec Park. The game was the culmination of a weekend of activities for over 40 former Bison players and their families.
Jury had a great day with 4 hits and 5 rbi’s. He and Lucas Malloy (‘07) were named Co-MVPs for the Black. Malloy had blasted a 3 run homer in the 4th inning. Red Team MVP was Jason Walker (‘89), who also hit a 3 run homer. Gold Glove winners were Todd Hainsey(‘92) for the Black and stellar catcher Brent Lykens (‘91) for the Red. 1976 grad Randy Zortman made his first appearance at the Alumni Game and was honored as Rookie of the Year. Former long time assistant coach Denny Zelenky (1985- 2005) was welcomed back for his initial alumni game.
The annual homerun derby was held before the game. Adam Jury was the winner with Kevin Lykens (95) finishing second. Jury graciously donated his winnings back to the cause. The 50-50 was won by Brent Lykens, who also donated his prize back. As a result, the Clearfield Baseball Association was able to present a $300 check to this year’s charity, Sofia’s Education Fund. Recently deceased alumnus David Falvo (‘82) was honored before the game by several of his team members and classmates.
