Bisons Go 1-1 in Curve Classic

Back on March 23rd Bison lefty Thomas Summers and Central ace Mike Mock hooked up in a classic match up, ending in a 2-0 win for the Bisons. As luck would have it, the two teams met again in the first round at the Altoona Curve Classic at Peoples Natural Gas Field. Mock took the mound again for the Dragons, but Clearfield countered with junior righty Brandon Orsich. He proved to be just as effective as Summers, pitching 7 strong innings giving up 3 hits and no earned runs. However, due to a couple of Bison errors, Central returned the favor with a 2-0 win. But last year’s Mountain League champs had tested the Bison pitching for 14 innings with little success.

In their second round match up with the Forest Hill Rangers, the Bison offense came alive in a 7-3 win. Josh Sorbera was the hitting star of the day, driving in 4 runs with two clutch singles. Sawyer Rowles and Dan Collins also drove in runs for the Bisons. Thomas Summers went the distance on the mound for his third win.

Clearfield continues its Mountain League schedule on Tuesday, April 14th with a trip to Philipsburg-Osceola.
