Fall Ball Season Ends With Annual World Series
The 2013 Fall Ball season came to a close on October 19th when the “(Hill) Billies” defeated the “Birdlegs,” 14-10 and 9-2, winning the five game series three games to one. Captains for the “Billies” were Devin Jones and Kaleb Taylor. Birdlegs captains were Curtis Collins and Zach Timchak.
Twenty three players participated in the series, which was the culmination of a very successful Fall Ball season. The weather was very good this Fall, enabling us to play 19 games. Practices were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and attendance was outstanding. The regular season record was 11-4. Team rosters are listed below.
One of the highlights of the Fall season is the annual “Baseball Olympics,” which was held on October 17th. Players compete against each other in a series of contests involving specific baseball skills. This year’s winners:
- 30 second drill: Cole Kephart and Curtis Collins
- Throw to Home: Cole Kephart, first place. Jake Pennington, second place.
- Trip Around Bases: Curtis Collins, first place. Logan Puit, second place.
- Bucket Drill: Noah Cline, first place. Jarrit Wagner, second place.
- Up the Middle: Dan Collins, first place. Tommy Hazel, second place.
- Home Run Derby: Cole Kephart, first place. Thomas Summers, second place.
