Bisons Play Solid Defense In 3-1 Victory

Behind the 4 hit pitching of senior righty Kyler Kephart, the Bisons played their best game of the year by beating Penns Valley, 3-1, on Friday evening at the Bisons Sports Complex. The defense was solid, committing only one harmless error. Clearfield scored first with a single run in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Tanner Ogden, scoring Cole Kephart. The one run lead held until the bottom of the sixth when the Bisons used a Penns Valley error, a sacrifice bunt by Coleman Kubala, a walk to Ronny Ogden and a single by Jon Janocko to load the bases. Freshman DH Thomas Summers then stepped in and lined a two run single to left, scoring two big runs. The Rams were able to plate one in the top of the 7th, but Kephart shut the door on them for his first varsity win.

The Bisons are now 1-2 on the season, 1-1 in Mountain League play. They travel to Punxsy Monday for a 4:15 PM game.
