Bisons Defeat Punxsy in 9 Inning Thriller

Derek Danver drove in Jarrett Fulmer in the looming darkness at the Bison Sports complex with a two out, two strike single as the Bisons defeated Punxsutawney on April 14th.  Ranked as the number two team in Pennsylvania by Collegiate Baseball, the Chucks have an outstanding lineup. The Bisons had to fight back from an early 4 run deficit, helped by a pair of homers by Andrew Redden and three hits each from Fulmer and Justin Hoffman. An outstanding relief job from Chad Zurat(7 strikeouts in 4 innings) enabled the Red and Black to hang on and set them up for the 9th inning heroics. A key hit by Matt Lonjin tied the game in the bottom of the 8th and an acrobatic, diving stop by Danver in the top of the ninth added to the drama in a contest which one bystander said was the best high school game he had ever witnessed. The game was especially important because it counts in both the CPL and the District Nine League.
