Bisons Hang On to Defeat Tyrone, 10-9

Down 5-1 in the fifth inning, the visiting Bisons battled back scoring 9 runs over the last three innings to take a 10-9 win. Jarrett Fulmer pitched 6 innings for the win, and Trevor Flanagan survived a rocky 7th to preserve it. Fulmer led the offense with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Derek Danver, Christian Lezzer, and Flanagan had two hits each as the Bisons hammered out 12. Drew Brown scored three times.

The big win evens the Bisons record at 5-5.

Indian Valley over Clearfield 10-2

Indian Valley’s righthander Rodney Patterson used a variety of off speed pitches to cool down the hot Bison bats on a rare warm and sunny day at Bison Sports Complex. The result was a 10-2 win for the Warriors. Derek Danver and Jarrett Fulmer each had two hits. Tyler Jacobson took the loss on the mound.

The Bisons next travel to Tyrone on Monday, May 2nd.

Bisons fall 36-22 in Slugfest with Central

The Scarlet Dragons and the Bisons combined for an unbelievable 10 homers on a cold, windy day at the Bison Sports Complex. The record setting slugfest resulted in a football-like score of 36-22, a disappoint setback for the Bisons, who had won 3 straight. 2010 state runners-up Central lived up to it’s billing by hammering Bison pitching all day. The Bisons bats kept pace, trailing by only two runs going into the 6th inning (24-22), but 12 Dragon runs were too much to overcome.

Drew Brown homered twice for the Bisons, while Derek Danver and Andrew Redden hit one each. Designated hitter Steve miler and third baseman Tyler Jacobson had 3 hits each. Danver had 4 RBIs while Christian Lezzer had a 3 run triple.

The loss evened the Bisons record at 4-4.

Bisons Blast Brookville With 16 Hits

The Bisons hot hitting continued in a 15-2 win over Brookville at the Bison Sports Complex. Monster games by Andrew Redden (5 hits) and Jarrett Fulmer (4 hits) ignited the offensive surge, while Coleman Kubala and Steve Miller added two hits each. Four “big flies” left the park. Derek Danver’s first inning homer put the Bisons ahead, Steve Miller slammed one in the second inning, and Andrew Redden’s Grand Slam ended the game. Ryan Zimmerman, Brookville’s right fielder, connected for a solo smash in the 5th inning. Bison senior righty Trevor Flanagan went the distance striking out 6 and walking 5. He allowed only 4 hits.

The win raises the Bison record to 4-3 with two more home games this week. Central Friday and Indian Valley on Saturday.

Bisons Down Bearcats 10-2

After an 8 day layoff due to poor weather, the Bisons entertained the Huntingdon Bearcats at the Bison Sports Complex and chased them back to their den with a 10-2 win. Senior righty Jarrett Fulmer struck out 8 and walked only one for his first varsity win. Derek Danver had 3 hits and scored 4 runs, while Andrew Redden, Drew Brown and DH Steve Miller had two hits each. Tyler Jacobson drove in 4 runs as the Bisons evened their record at 3-3.

Next up for Clearfield is a home game with Blue Raiders of Brookville.

Bisons Come From Behind to Defeat Eagles

After being down 6-1, the Bisons came through with 6 runs in the fifth inning to upset Bald Eagle Area 9-7. Tyler Jacobson picked up his first win after relieving starter Ronny Ogden in the fourth. Jarrett Fulmer belted two homers while Andrew Redden, Christian Lezzer, and Jacobson had two hits each. Mike Cowles had 3 hits for BEA.

The Bisons next travel to Huntingdon to take on the Bearcats in a make up game tomorrow.

Bisons Fall Short in Upset Bid

The Bisons battled the undefeated Wildcats of Central Mountain even up and actually led throughout most of the game. But, their upset bid fell short in a tough 7-6 loss played at Mill Hall Park. Bison Hurler Jarrett Fulmer turned in a gutsy performance surrendering only 6 hits to a powerful Central Mountain lineup. Derek Danver and Christian Lezzer doubled for the Bisons. Tyler Jacobson had two RBIs.

The Eagles of BEA are scheduled to invade the Bison Sports Complex on Monday in a Mountain Athletic Conference crossover division game.

Bisons defeat Penns Valley 13-6

Taking advantage of a rare good weather day, the Bisons traveled to Spring Mills and brought home a 13-6 victory over the Penns Valley Rams. Veteran righty Trevor Flanagan went the distance for his first win of the season, striking out 10 batters while walking only one. Senior catcher Andrew Redden led the Bison offense with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Shane Harper had a double and a single, while Jarrett Fulmer and Derek Danver also doubled and scored twice. Losing pitcher Sam Snyder drove in 4 of the Ram runs with a homerun and a double.

The Bisons next game is at Central Mt on Friday.

Bisons Lose to Tyrone After 2 Week Lay-off

After two weeks of poor weather, the Bison baseball team was finally able to play a game, dropping a 9-4 decision to visiting Tyrone. Poor field conditions contributed to the sloppily played game. The Bison offense was limited to only 3 hits, a 2 run homer by Andrew Redden and singles by Trevor Flanagan and Shane Harper. Starting pitcher Jarrett Fulmer took the loss, while winning pitcher Jake Belinda led the Tyrone offense with 3 hits.

The Bisons next host the P-O Mounties on April 13th.

Bisons Drop 2011 Opener to Bellefonte

The Bellefonte Red Raiders, behind pitching ace Robert Gummo, spoiled the Bisons opening game with a 17-6 defeat. Gummo pitched a complete game with 7 strikeouts and also led the Red Raider offense by blasting a grand slam. The Bisons used five different pitchers with starter Jarrett Fulmer taking the loss. Fulmer and Tyler Jacobson had 2 hits each for the Bisons, while Derek Danver doubled and Trevor Flanagan had two RBIs.

The Bisons are scheduled to open their home Schedule against Lewistown on Wednesday, March 30th at 4:30 PM.
