American Legion Baseball 2005' Season
Season Finish: 19 wins - 12 losses |
July 18
The Chiefs' season came to an end yesterday as they lost
to Dubois in the losers bracket final by a score of 21-13. They again
fell victim to the strong Dubois lineup, though they kept fighting back
and kept it close, until Dubois left fielder Kyle Gorby delivered a two
out, two strike Grand Slam in the last inning. The Chiefs used five
pitchers in the game but could not contain the vaunted Dubois offense.
Hitting stars for Clearfield were Max Condon and Bubba McClinotck with
three hits apiece. Jimmy Collins, Adam Jury, Dan Marino, and Kurt Miller
contributed two hits each. Post 6 finishes in third place in the
Jefferson County League with a 19-12 record, far exceeding the expectations of
most people. Final team and individual statistics will be posted on
this website as soon as they are finalized.
July 17
The Clearfield Chiefs stayed alive in the Jefferson County
League play offs with a come-from-behind 14-8 victory over Laurel Eye
clinic of Brookville. Trey Wallace pitched 6 2/3 innings but Bubba
McClintock picked up the win in relief. Kurt Miller and Adam Jury each had
three hits and three rbi's. Craig Butler and Andrew Janocko also had
three hits, while Brandon Evans homered and Dan Marino doubled. The Chiefs
record stands at 19-11. They must now face Dubois again at Showers
Field Monday night starting at 5:30 PM.
July 14
The Clearfield Chiefs dropped their opening round play- off
game to Dubois by a 10-0 score Monday night at Showers Field. The Dubois
wrecking crew scored early and often, building a 7 run lead in 1 2/3
innings. Relief pitcher Brandon Evans came in and kept it close over the
next four innings. However, the normally hot hitting Chiefs couldn't
get the bats going. Craig Butler led the offense with two hits. They now
face Laurel Eye Clinic in a loser's bracket game on Saturday. Because
of their higher seed, the Chiefs will be the home team. Game time is
5:00 PM.
July 12
In a game which had no bearing on their league
standing, The Chiefs finished up the regular season losing to
Reynoldsville in a 12-9 slugfest. Jimmy Collins led the offense with 4 hits, while Shane Davis, Kurt Miller, and Craig Butler had two. Kyle Kline added a
double. Max Condon suffered the loss on the hill. Post 6 ends the
regular season with a record of 18-10 and a third place finish in the
Jefferson County League. For the eighth consecutive season, the Chiefs have
landed a berth in the post-season playoffs. They will travel to Dubois'
Showers Field on Thursday for a 5:30 PM game.
July 11
Clearfield clinched third seed by beating
Curwensville 15-2 at the Bison Sports Complex. Lefty Trey Wallace ran his
record to 6-0 in another strong performance. Kurt Miller led the offensive
charge with a brilliant 5 hit night. James Zimmerman added two hits
while Max Condon and Will Bacharach drove in two runs each. Shane davis and
Brandon Evans doubled.
July 10
The Chiefs were defeated 20-5 as Dubois brought
out the heavy artillery, blasting four homeruns. Post 6 tried to slow
them down with three different pitchers, Craig Butler taking the loss.
James Zimmerman had two hits for the Chiefs.
July 6
Chiefs 7-0 over the Brookville Braves. Bubba McClintock
struck out ten batters and gave up only three hits in six innings of work.
Andrew Janocko worked the last inning. Adam Jury had three hits, while
Beau Ryan and Shane Davis had two each. The Chiefs are now 17-8 with a
home game Friday against Curwensville starting at 6:00 PM.
July 2nd and 3rd
The Chiefs hosted the First Clearfield Invitational
Tournament and earned the championship trophy by going 3-0 in the
tournament. They defeated Moyer's Auto Body 12-l in the first game. James
Zimmerman was the winning pitcher,while Adam Jury had three hits and
Shane davis and Craig Butler had two each. Butler tripled and Jury homered.
Post #6 defeated Bradford next, 9-2. Trey Wallace pitched a two hitter.
Max Condon, Kyle Kline, Bubba McClintock, and Craig Butler had two hits
each. In the championship game, the Chiefs bested St. Marys 9-4. Max
Condon was the winning hurler and contributed two hits to the offense.
Adam Jury had three hits and Andrew Janocko had two. The Chiefs record
is now 16-8. They return to league play on Wednesday at Brookville. Game
time is set for 6:00 PM.
June 30
Punxsutawney 10-4 over Chiefs. Brandon Evans had two hits and
Bubba McClintock homered.
June 29
Laurel Eye Clinic 6-5 over Chiefs. Bubba McClintock was the
losing pitcher. Adam Jury had two hits
June 27
Chiefs 13-4 over Reynoldsville. Trey Wallace winning pitcher.
Adam Jury had three hits and Matt Morgan had three rbi's.
June 25
The Clearfield Chiefs dropped a tough 10-9 decision
to Dubois on Saturday at Showers Field. Down 10-4 in the sixth inning,
Post 6 battled back, but fell just short. Adam Jury led the Chiefs
with three hits, while Craig Butler and Kurt Miller added two each.
Doubles were hit by Brandon Evans and Dan Marino. Max Condon was the losing
pitcher. Clearfield's over-all record is now 12-6. They host
Reynoldsville on Monday at 6:00 PM.
June 22
The Clearfield Chiefs defeated Curwensville 10-2 in a game
played at Thorp Twins Memorial Field in Hepburnia. Shane Davis had
three hits and three rbi's, including a homer. Kurt Miller also drove in
three runs with a pair of hits, while Max Condon and Beau Ryan doubled.
Bubba McClintock was the winning pitcher. The Chiefs next play at Dubois
on Saturday at 5:00 PM
June 20
Trey Wallace pitched a five inning no hitter as the Chiefs
recovered from a disappointing weekend by pounding Brookville 15-0
Monday night at the Bison Sports Complex. Wallace struck out 10 batters,
and Bubba McClintock had a great night at the plate with three hits and
three rbi's. Craig Butler and Andrew Janocko also had two hits. The
Chiefs travel to Hepburnia on Wednesday for an important league game with
Curwensville.
June 19
League leader Punxsutawney came to town today and soundly
defeated the home team by a 15-3 score. Max Condon was the losing pitcher,
while Bubba McClintock and Shane davis each had two hits. Post Six
dropped to 10-5 on the season with a home contest on Monday at 6:00 with
Brookville.
June 18
The Chiefs lost to Penns Valley 5-2 in a game played at
the Shaner sports Complex in Potter Township. Craig Butler pitched well,
surrendering only two earned runs. However the Chiefs commited five
errors. Shane Davis had two hits and Butler had a double.
June 16
The Chiefs made the long trek to Lewistown to take on the
Mifflin County team and came home with a hard fought 11-6 victory. Three
pitchers toiled in the game with Brandon Evans picking up the win. Will
Bacharach led the offense with three hits. Shane Davis had a double and
a single and Evans added a double. Post 6 travels to Boalsburg on
Saturday to take on Penns Valley at the Shaner Sports Complex. Game time is
set for 4:00 PM.
June 14
Clearfield at Laurel Eye Clinic: The Chief's bats were hot
again tonight as Post 6 defeated Laurel Eye Clinc on their home field
13-3. Clearfield blasted 13 hits with Adam Jury(4 hits), Craig
Butler(2 hits, 3 rbi's), Shane Davis(2 hits), and Beau Ryan (2 hits) leading
the way. Bubba McClintock was the winning pitcher, registering 9
strikeouts. Next on the schedule is a trip to Mifflin County on Thursday.
Game time is set for 6:00 PM.
June 12
The Chiefs broke out of their slump Sunday, pounding
out 17 hits at Reynoldsville as they triumphed in a 17-1 win. Trey
Wallace pitched four strong innings for the win and Shane Davis helped the
cause with 6 rbi's. Others having big days at the plate were Adam
Jury(4 hits), Kurt Miller(homer and single), Andrew Janocko(3 hits) and
Craig Butler(2 hits). Post #6 now has an 8-3 record and is scheduled to
play at Laurel Eye Clinic on Tuesday at 6:00 PM.
June 11
Bellefonte came to town and managed to soundly
defeat the Chiefs 16-2 in a non-league game on Saturday. The Bandits
T.J. Lucas picked up the win while Brandon Evans took the loss. Kurt
Miller had two hits for the Chiefs.
June 10
The Chiefs were defeated by Dubois 9-3 at the Bison
Sports Complex. Bubba McClintock took the loss. Dubois' Adam Kulbacki
kept the home team in check, allowing only three hits. The Chiefs failed
to capitalize on numerous opportunities, leaving 10 runners stranded on
the bases
June 9
The Chiefs scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th tonight to defeat visiting Curwensville 7-6. Adam Jury had four hits for Clearfield and Shane Davis added two. Trey Wallace pitched 5 and 2/3 innings but Andrew Janocko picked up the win in relief. The Chiefs host Dubois in a 6:00 PM contest on Friday.
June 5
The Chiefs scored 6 runs in the top of the seventh inning
to register an exciting come from behind 7-5 victory over the
Brookville Braves. Kurt Miller had the key hit as he drove in two runs to tie
the game at three. Clearfield went on to pad their lead with four more
runs as Andrew Janocko and Trey Wallace doubled. For the game, Kyle
Kline had a big night with three hits and Collins added two. Janocko
picked up the win in relief of Calvin McClintock, who had registered eight
strikeouts in the first five innings. The Chiefs host Lewistown in a
6:00 PM game Monday.
June 1
Trey Wallace pitched a complete game shutout to give the
Chiefs a 4-0 victory over the Mifflin County Babe Ruth team as Jimmy
Collins had two hits, Dan Marino doubled and Wallace helped his own cause
with a double. Clearfield travels to Brookville on Sunday to take on
the Braves in a Jefferson County league game.
May 29
The Chiefs' four game winning streak was stoppped by
Punxsutawney today as they suffered a 10-3 setback at Kuntz Field.
Bubba McClintock took the loss, and Kyle Kline was the only Chief to
collect two hits. Clearfield's usually solid defense let them down as they
committed an uncharacteristic 5 errors. The Chiefs play again on
Tuesday when they host the Keystone State Team from State College at 6:00 PM.
May 27
After a slow start the Chiefs broke the game open with an 11 run inning to defeat the Philipsburg-Osceola Babe Ruth team by a 17-4 score. Kurt Miller, Kyle Kline, Dan Marino, and Jimmy Collins collected two hits each, while Kline and Trey Wallace homered. Andrew Janocko picked up the win in relief of Max Condon. On Sunday the Chiefs travel to Punxsutawney for an important Jefferson County League game starting at 2:00PM
May 22
The Chiefs made an amazing comeback with 5 runs in the
bottom of the ninth to overcome Penns Valley on Sunday in a non-league
game at the Bisons Sports Complex. Max Condon picked up the win in
relief of Trey Wallace, who pitched six strong innings. Jimmy Collins led
the charge with a triple and a single, while Dan Marino stroked an
important two run double. Andrew Janocko added a double also. Post Six is
now 3-0 and will host the Philipsburg-Osceola Babe Ruth team on
Wednesday at 6:00 PM
May 21
The Chiefs hosted Marion Center on Saturday and pulled out an exciting 7-6 decision when Jimmy Collins blasted a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth. Andrew Janocko got the win in relief, while Adam Jury had a big day at
the plate with three hits. Kurt Miller and Shane Davis contributed two
hits each and Dan Marino added a double.
May 15
The Clearfield Chiefs opened up the 2005 season with a solid 9-3 victory over Laurel Eye Clinic. The game was played at Clearfield High School. Bubba
McClintock got the win on the mound, working five good innings and giving up
only two earned runs. Lefty Andrew Janocko finished up, surrendering
just one harmless run in the sixth. Shane Davis led Post 6 with three
hits and three rbi's. Adam Jury and Trey Wallace had two hits each, while
Dan Marino added two rbi's. The Chiefs are now 1-0 in Jeffferson County
League play. Next scheduled game is Sat., May 21st at home against
non-league opponent Marion Center.
