Before participating in any practices, each player must compete a PIAA CIPPE (Comprehensive Initial Pre-participation Physical Evaluation), including all 4 sections. This must be turned in on or before March 5th. Copies of the CIPPE form are now available in the athletic office or from Coach Lansberry or Coach Billotte. Players who have already participated in another sport during the 2011-2012 school year need only fill out section 5.

Prior to March 5th, practice schedules will be announced in school and on this website. Any questions may be directed to Coach Lansberry at 765-5449.

After nearly 50 years, the Jefferson County League officially folded on September 22nd. After Reynoldsville was unable to field a team and Brookville was questionable for 2012, league coaches and officials decided unanimously to split up the league. Punxsutawney opted to join the Indiana County League, while Clearfield and Dubois decided to apply for admission to the Central Penn League. If Brookville has a team they will most likely join the Clarion County League.

With the addition of Clearfield and Dubois, the CPL will now be a 12 team circuit. Bellefonte, Altoona, State College, Hollidaysburg, Philipsburg, Mifflin County, Beech Creek, Tyrone, Penns Valley, and Clarence are the other teams.

The CPL competes in Region 7 and is widely recognized as one of the toughest leagues in the state. With over 500 teams, Pennsylvania has more young men playing Legion Baseball than any other in the Union.

League President Roger Bailey has not yet released the 2012 schedule, but it will most likely be a two divisional set up with all teams playing each other.

Without a doubt, it will be a very challenging schedule for Post #6, but the Chiefs players and coaches are very excited about the change.

Attendance at practices and games was outstanding this year. The development of basic fundamentals and the importance of team work were stressed throughout the season. We had an excellent coaching staff (Brandon Billotte, Ed Yeager, and Sean Zimmerman) and a group of players who worked hard. As a result, everyone on the team showed steady improvement throughout the Fall. The fact that we still had enough players to field two teams as late as October 15th proved that we had a group of very dedicated young men to work with.

Beyond the coaches there are many people to thank for helping make the season a success. As always we are grateful to Jims Sports Center for their sponsorship and also to the Lawrence Township Supervisors and the Recreation Board for allowing us usage of the field. Sam Timchak served as the official scorekeeper and Todd Orsich ran the scoreboard at the home games. Head grounds keeper was Jeff Ogden, and of course Jim Anderson always does a great job keeping the entire park looking sharp. Most of all, the parents are to be thanked. We sincerely appreciated the fact that all the parents chipped in and helped in some way. The Moms especially did an excellent job with the concession stand, which of course is critical to sustaining the program.

Thanks to everyone for working with us to help make these young men better ball players!

Serving as the official scorekeeper was Sam Timchak.

Special guests in attendance were Jeff Potter and his wife Sheryl. Jeff is founder of the Potter Baseball Tour and author of “Whatever Happened to Baseball“.
