May 28th

Season Comes to a Close

Punxsutawney 9, Clearfield 5
The Bisons season came to an abrupt end as they dropped a 9-5 decision to Punxsutawney in the District 9 Championshipo game, played at Brockway High School. Corey Bookhamer led the Bisons offense with two homeruns while Derek Danver and Kyle Timchak added two hits each. Clearfield ended the season with an overall record of 11 wins and 9 losses. Their 7-3 record in the D9 League Big School Division earned them a three way tie for first place with Dubois and Punxsy. The following seniors appeared in their final high school game for the Bisons: Corey Bookhammer, Jarrin Campman, Parker Herrington, Michael Moyer, Aaron Sayers, Tanner St. Clair, and Kyle Timchak.


May 20th

Bisons Defeat St Marys, Advance to District Finals

Clearfield 5, St. Mary's 4
The Clearfield Bisons and the St. Marys Dutchmen hooked up in another nail-biter with the Red and Black coming out on top 5-4 in eight innings. Matt Lonjin scored the winning run on Tanner St Clair's deep fly to center field. Parker Herrington earned the win in relief of starter Corey Bookhamer. Both pitched well in limiting the Dutch to just 3 hits. Bookhamer led the offense with a double and two singles, while Kyle Timchak and Jarrin Campman had two hits each.

The Bisons will face the Punxsutawney Chucks for the AAA District 9 Title on Wednesday at a site and time to be named.


May 15th

Altoona Wallops Clearfield 14-3

Altoona 14, Clearfield 3
Five games in five days took it's toll on the Bison pitching staff as the Mountain Lions pounded out 17 hits in a 14-3 win. Parker Herrington and Tanner St. Clair homered for the Bisons. Derek Danver added two hits.


May 14th

St Mary's Ekes Out 6-4 Win Over the Bisons

St. Mary's 6, Clearfield 4
In a see-saw 8 inning thriller, the St. Mary's Dutchmen hung on for a 6-4 win, denying the Bisons of an outright claim to the North Allegheny Big School Division League Title. Clearfield, Dubois, and Punxsy ended up in a 3 way tie, all with 7-3 records. Parker Herrington was the hard luck loser despite surrendering only 1 hit in 4 1/3 innings of relief work. Chad Zurat had kept the hard hitting Dutch at bay into the 4th inning in his first varsity start. Derek Danver led the Bisons offense with a double and a single.


May 13th

Bisons Clinch Tie For D9 League Title

Clearfield 11, Brookville 1
An 11-1 rout of the Brookville Raiders guaranteed the Bisons a share of the North Allegheny Big School Division Title as sophomore Trevor Flanagan pitched a 3 hit gem. Tanner St. Clair and Jarrin Campman homered for the Bisons with Campman driving in 4 runs. Aaron Sayers and Kyle Timchak also contributed to the offense with 2 hits each. Flanagan struck out 8 and walked only two in the complete game win.


May 12th

Bisons Fall to Williamsport Millionaires

Williamsport 13, Clearfield 5
Williamsport turned a close game into a rout by exploding for 7 runs in the 6th inning. Only 5 runs were earned in the 13-5 win. The Bisons' offense was led by Corey Bookhamer and Jarrin Campman with 3 hits each.


May 11th

Bisons Extend Win Streak to Seven

Clearfield 10, Bradford 4
The Bradford Owls became the Bisons' seventh straight victim as Corey Bookhamer and Parker Herrington combined on a 6 hitter and a 10-4 win. Jarrin Campman led the hit parade with 2 singles and a double while Justin Hoffman and Tanner St. Clair each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Derek Danver also knocked in a pair of runs.


May 7th

Bisons Outslug Chucks, 14-9

Clearfield 14, Punxsy 9
The Bisons and Chucks combined for 23 hits and 22 runs as Clearfield built an early lead and hung on for a wild 14-9 victory at the Bison Sports Complex. Jarrin Campman and Parker Herrington had 3 hits each, while Corey Bookhamer and Derek Danver each went two for four. Kyle Timchak and Campman each homered for the Bisons. Timchak's was a 3 run shot. Tanner St. Clair tripled in 2 runs. Aaron Sayers went 3 innings and Chad Zurat went 4 to earn his first varsity win. Punxsy catcher Dakota Bush homered.


May 6th

Bisons Down Dutch, 5-3

Clearfield 5, St. Mary's 3
The Bisons traveled to St. Mary's and surprised the Flying Dutch with a hard fought 5-3 victory at Berwind Park. Sophomore Tevor Flanagan notched his second win by throwing 5 innings and allowing only 3 earned runs. Parker Herrington earned the save by pitching the 6th and 7th innings. The big hits for the Bisons were Tanner St. Clair's two run homer in the 3rd inning and Kyle Timchak's 3 run double in the 5th. Brett Quiggle homered twice for St. Mary's.


May 5th

Clearfield Shuts Out Brookville, 5-0

Clearfield 5, Brookville 0
A strong pitching performance by lefty Corey Bookhamer featured the Bisons' 5-0 win over the Brookville Raiders at the Bison Sports Complex. Bookie pitched a two hitter with 7 strikeouts. Jarrin Campman had a pair of hits and Justin Hoffman had a double. Brookville's Chase Lyle pitched well in suffering the loss.


April 29th

Bisons Pull Out a 14-13 Thriller in Bradford

Clearfield 14, Bradford 13
Scoring the go ahead run in the top of the Seventh and coming up with two defensive plays in the bottom, the Bisons hung on to defeat the Owls at the Pitt-Bradford Campus Field. For the second game in a row, relief ace Parker Herrington came in to shut the door and enable the Bisons to win. Big hitters for the visitors were Matt Lonjin and Herrington with 3 hits each. Tanner St. Clair had 3 RBIs on 2 hits, while Corey Bookhamer slugged a 3 run homer. After Bradford tied up the game in the bottom of the 6th, the Bisons 3rd baseman Derek Danver led off the Seventh with a double, was sacrificed to 3rd by Kyle Timchak, and scored when Lonjin looped a single into left field. The Owls loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the inning. With the infield in, Bookhamer made a barehanded grab of a short ground ball and nailed the runner at home. With the bases still loaded, Owl hitter Kyle Yurkewicz worked Herrington to a full count. A perfectly executed pitcher to first base pick off ended the game and started the celebration for the Bisons, who have now won three in a row.


April 27th

Bisons Get Big Win Over Dubois

Clearfield 14, Dubois 7
Sophomore Trevor Flanagan picked up his first varsity win as the Bisons defeated the Dubois Beavers 14-7 in their 2009 home opener. Flanagan survived an early homerun barrage and settled down for victory, pitching 42/3 innings against a very strong Dubois lineup. Parker Herrington earned a save with 22/3 innings of scoreless relief. Big hitters for the Bisons were Jarrin Campman, Kyle Timchak, Derek Danver, and Herrinton with two hits each. One of Herrington's was a 3 run homer that put the Bisons ahead to stay. Campman had 3 RBIs, and Danver and Tanner St. Clair scored 3 times. Casey Clinton, Nate Sabados, and Garrett Peterson homered for Dubois.


April 24th & 25th

Bisons go 1-1 at Curve Classic

Hollidaysburg 10, Clearfield 6
A rough 6th inning against the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers led to a 10-2 setback for the Bisons, preventing them from repeating as champions of the Altoona Curve Classic tournament on April 24th & 25th. Michael Moyer took the loss despite surrendering only 1 earned run as the Bison defense committed 6 errors. Tanner St. Clair and Corey Bookhamer had 2 hits each, while Justin Hoffman drove in both runs.

Clearfield 11, Cambria Heights 1
The Bisons came back strong on the second day of the tournament by defeating Cambria Heights 11-1 in 5 innings. Bookhamer pitched a strong one-hitter with 6 strikeouts. St. Clair had 2 hits again and catcher Matt Lonjin had a big day with 3 hits. Parker Herrington scored 3 runs.


April 18th

Bisons Defeat Westmont Hilltoppers, 6-3

Clearfield 6, Westmont 3
Michael Moyer pitched a complete game, 3 hitter and the Bison bats came alive in a 6-3 win at Westmont Hilltop High School in Johnstown. Twelve hits, including two each by Justin Hoffman, Aaron Sayers, and Derek Danver provided plenty of offense as Moyer registered 9 strikeouts. Danver connected for a homerun, the Bisons first of the year.


April 16th

Punxsy Ekes Out 9 Inning Win Over Bisons

Punxsy 5, Clearfield 4
Tommy Bush drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 9th inning, enabling the Chucks to defeat the Bisons 5-4 in a hard fought game which counts in both the Central Penn League and District Nine League. Justin Hoffman and Tanner St. Clair led the Bison offense with 2 hits each. Hoffman drove in three runs. Aaron Sayers took the loss on the mound.


April 13th

Altoona over Bisons in Nail-Biter

Altoona 8, Clearfield 7
The Altoona Mountains scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge the visiting Bisons 8-7. The Bison offense finally came to life with 10 hits, 3 each by Jarrin Campman and Justin Hoffman. Tanner St. Clair tripled and singled. Michael Moyer was the losing pitcher with Altoona ace Andy Smithmyer getting the win in relief.


March 31st

Bisons Lose to Dubois

Dubois 8, Clearfield 1
The Beavers unleashed a powerful offensive attack to down the Clearfield Bisons, 8-1, in a game played at Showers Field on March 31st. Homeruns by Kasey Clinton (2), Nate Sabados, and winning pitcher Richie Pruzinsky led the Beavers, while Corey Bookhamer had the Bisons' only extra base hit. Michael Moyer was the losing pitcher.


March 24th

Bisons Drop CPL Opener to State College

State College 10, Clearfield 4
The Little Lions of State College broke open a tight contest with a five run outburst in the fourth inning of a 10-4 CPL win over the visiting Clearfield Bisons on March 24th. Centerfielder Aaron Sayers led the Bisons with two hits, while Isaac Butler knocked in three runs the second consecutive game.


March 20th

Bisons Open Season in Virginia

Clearfield 8, Norfolk Collegiate 2
Norfolk Collegiate High School was the host as the Bison Baseball team opened up the 2009 season with an 8-2 win on March 20th. Michael Moyer was the winning pitcher as he struckout 12 batters in six innings. Lefty Corey Bookhamer pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Bookhamer led the hitting attack with 3 hits and 2 runs batted in. Designated hitter Isaac Butler drove in three Bison runs and catcher Matt Lonjin connected for a two run single in the Bisons' big 5th inning.
