With both teams scoring early and often, the game was tied 11-11 going into the bottom of the fifth. Unfortunately the wheels fell off for the Bisons. A series of hits, walks and errors resulted in a ten run inning for the Dragons. Their 21-11 lead was enough to end the contest via the five inning mercy rule. Tanner Ogden had a productive game with two hits, and 3 rbis, including a triple. Kyler Kephart also tripled for three runs and Curtis Collins added two rbis. Tanner took the loss on the mound in relief of Wyatt Westen.

The Bisons can now look forward to a three game homestand next week, hosting Bradford, Tyrone , and P-O on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

After a four game losing streak, the Bisons put together a solid game to defeat BEA 7-4 at Wingate yesterday. Kyler Kephart recorded his second varsity win on the mound with a solid effort. Tiring a little in the seventh, he was relieved by Wyatt Westen, who shut the door on the Eagles by retiring three hitters in a row for the save. The entire lineup contributed to the Bison offense, who delivered 13 hits in the contest, all of them singles. Westen drove in three runs with two hits while Tanner Ogden,Ronny Ogden, Thomas Summers, and Kephart also had two hits.

It was an important win for the Bisons as they have a big week coming up, facing Juniata at home on Monday, traveling to Huntingdon on Wednesday, and making the long trip to Central on Friday.

The Wildcats of Central Mountain rolled into Clearfield undefeated on Monday night and left the same way. They showed why they are at the top of the Mountain League standings with a solid handling of the Bisons by a 10-3 score. Lefty Luke Wise held the Bison bats at bay, although Tanner Ogden connected for a homerun in the sixth inning. Wise and senior Ronny Ogden were locked in a good pitcher’s dual until Central Mountain erupted for 6 runs in the fourth inning.

It has become an almost foregone conclusion that the Bisons will dig a hole early, then wait until late in the game to make a dramatic comeback.

It happened again on Friday night in Philipsburg as the Mounties built an 11-0 lead after four innings only to have the Red and Black men roar back with 8 runs in the fifth, changing the complexion of the hotly contested game completely. Hoping for a 5 inning mercy rule win, Mountie boss Doug Sankey was forced to go to veteran hurler Parker Watson to put out the fire. But the Bisons never go down easy. Clearfield starter Kyler Kephart and reliever Jon Janocko experienced rough outings against the explosive P-O lineup, but Freshman lefty Thomas Summers entered the game in the second inning and held them at bay for 4 and 2/3 innings in his first varsity appearance. It was a real bright spot for the Bisons. Tanner Ogden continued his hot hitting with two hits, while Janocko added two rbis. Several players came off the bench to contribute to the offense.

Clearfield next plays host to Central Mountain on Monday at the Bison Sports Complex. Game time is 4:30PM
